Döttrarna, som är 7 och 11 år, samlar på Schleich hästar. Till dessa går det förstås att köpa en massa tillbehör, men barnen tycker ofta att det är roligare att tillverka dem själva. Nu under jullovet har miniatyrverkstaden varit i full gång. Vi rotade fram allt möjligt användvändbart i mina gömmor, från sytillbehör till material från smyckestillverkning, skinn, metalltråd och tänger.
Det blev några färgglada täcken, med spännen gjorda av ståltråd och hyskor som knäppning fram…
… Och grimmor av smyckesdetaljer med flätade grimskaft.
Barnen lyckades även pillra ihop små ryktborstar, hovkratsar (av gem och ihåliga plastsnören), rosetter och hönät.
Och 11-åringen har helt på egen hand tillverkat benskydd, träns och sadlar av små skinnbitar. Jag kan inte annat än imponeras av vad små fingrar kan åstadkomma… 🙂

Accessories for miniature horses
My daughters, who are 7 and 11 years old, collect Schleich horses. There are, of course, lots of accessories you can buy for these horses, but my kids also enjoy making them themselves. During this Christmas break, we found all sorts of usable bits and bobs in my stash of crafting material; from sewing accessories, to stuff from jewelery making, pieces of leather, wire and pliers. And soon the manufacturing of miniatures was in full swing.
We have made colourful horse blankets, halters and leads. The kids also managed to make miniature grooming equipment, price bows and hay nets. And my 11-year-old has made leg pads, bridles and saddles from pieces of leather (all on her own, without any assistance from me). I can’t help being impressed by what small fingers can accomplish… 🙂

Thanks Marilyn! 🙂 I do feel like I have very large and clumsy fingers compared to the girls… But it was a joy to see them so focused on creating all these accessories, for hours on end, and coming up with new ideas all the time.
