Att kombinera olika färger och material är väldigt kul, men också en utmaning. När jag har kommit så långt att jag bestämt vad jag ska tova och i vilken grundfärg, så återstår beslut om nyanser och tyger och eventuellt andra fibrer. Sånt kan ta tid. Och även om katten Smilla gärna gör mig sällskap så är hon sällan till någon hjälp i beslutsvåndan. Hon gillar allt som är mjukt.

Combining different colors and materials is fun, but also a challenge. When I have  decided what I want to felt, and in which basic color, decisions about shades and fabrics and possibly other fibers still remain. That can take time. And even though my cat Smilla is happy to keep me company, she is rarely any help in the decision-making. She likes everything that is soft.

Det här blev ett lite större nunotovat stycke. Basen är en vinröd gasväv av bomull, täckt med två tunna lager av merinoull i olika nyanser av lila, rött och rosa. På det la jag ut tygbitar i olika material (silke, bomull, viskos, syntet) och diverse andra fibrer.

This turned into a rather large nuno-felted piece. The base is a burgundy cotton gauze, covered with two thin layers of merino wool in different shades of purple, red and pink. On top of that, I laid out pieces of fabric in different materials (silk, cotton, viscose, synthetic) and various other fibers.

Nedan ser ni resultatet. Ett stycke på 120 cm x 90 cm, i varma färger och med lite av allt möjligt intovat, som kan användas som pläd, eller klippas och sys till något annat. Till vad har jag inte bestämt än. Men jag tror vi tog rätt bra beslut om färger och material, Smilla och jag.

Below is the result. I piece measuring 120 cm x 90 cm, in warm shades with a bit of all sorts felted in, that can be used as a small blanket or cut and sewn into something else. I haven´t quite decided into what yet. But I think we took quite good decisions about colours and materials, Smilla and I.
