Under påskhelgen fick barnen tova varsitt fågelbo. De fick linda garn och ull på uppblåsta ballonger (nerkletade med lite tvål) och sedan stoppade vi ner dem i varsin nylonstrumpbyxa (ja, ballongerna då, inte barnen). Efter det fick de klappa, studsa och gnugga sina ballonger med varmt vatten och tvål i badkaret. När ullen tovats ihop tog vi av strumpbyxorna och plockade ut ballongerna. Sedan hjälpte jag dem att valka (rulla och gnugga) ullen med mer varmt vatten och såpa. Ett riktigt enkelt och barnvänligt projekt.
Innan jag la dem på tork, vek jag ner (in) kanterna och justerade skålformen. Jag tycker de blev riktigt fina. Nu har vi lurviga fågelbon att lägga våra egna nykokta ägg i. Min tanke var att de då kanske också håller värmen lite längre på matbordet. Om inte annat så ser det lite roligare ut än att ställa fram dem i en vanlig porslinsskål. 🙂

Felted bird´s nests
During the Easter holidays my daughters felted a bird´s nest each. They wrapped yarn and wool on inflated balloons (smeared with a little soap) and then we pulled a nylon stocking over them (that is, over the balloons, not the kids). After that, they patted, bounced and rubbed their balloons with warm water and soap in the bathtub. When the wool had felted, we removed the nylon stockings and the balloons, and I helped them to felt the wool further with more warm water and soap. A really simple and child-friendly project.
Before I laid them to dry, I folded the edges inwards and adjusted the bowl shape. I think they turned out really nice. Now we have furry bird´s nests to put our own freshly boiled eggs in. My idea was that they might also keep the eggs warm a little longer on the table. If nothing else, it looks more fun than just serving them in an ordinary porcelain bowl. 🙂

The buckets are empty plastic 1-litre yoghurt containers (good for all sorts of things, apart from balancing balloons on). About the same size as children’s sand buckets.
